Is There Anyone You Truly HATE???
by minimus ini thought about that question myself and i don't think i really hate anyone.
i guess i could hate bin laden or some nameless evil terrorist but no one comes to mind..

There is no individual person that I hate. I do hate the JW organization and JWs as a whole. But I mainly feel pity for the individual JWs including members of my extended family. I do find it impossible to have a relationship of any kind with my JW relatives. They don't all shun me but they are such robots and I cannot share my life with them. They just don't know anything except their little JW world.

My 1st post
by Darth plaugeis ini left the "truth" in 2002 after being in it for more than 30 years.
i am so glad i wasn't raised in the "truth".
my very zealous wife who was raised in the "truth" found a worldly boyfriend and swore nothing ever happened.

Welcome, darth plaugeis. You have come a long way. I'm so glad that you are out of the negativity. I'm glad you found JWN.

What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

As Witnesses we were Trained to be Obedient - Rather than Show Love
by flipper ini can list many examples of this : probably the most glaring thing i saw proving this in 1982 was when an 83 year old sister died of a heart attack on the stage at an assembly part where she gave her experience then sat down next to me and died right on my shoulder on the stage.
i motioned to a brother sitting near me on the stage to help me carry her off the stage - which we did - and the brother and i behind the curtain tried administering cpr.
a registered nurse ran behind the curtain from the audience also - but the annoying thing is the elder giving the talk just kept right on talking to the 3,000 in the audience with no reference to what had just happened !

The JWs have their own definition of "spirituality" and it has nothing to do with the real definition. Spirituality to them is just following the many, many rules and going to all the meetings and doing lots of field service.

The effect of this religion on my children & the action I had to take - Part II
by jambon1 ini posted this part of the story earlier this week.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/experiences/191112/1/the-effect-of-this-religion-on-my-children-the-action-i-had-to-take-part-i.
so we are at the point where my daughter has been taking in my lifestyle for 4 years since she i left the truth when she was just 4 years old.
my son who is a couple of years younger thankfully seems to be immune to most of the indoctrination from the jws.

Memories are flooding back for me also. I had exactly the same thoughts, fears and worries as your daughter. I'm a born-in. We never missed a meeting my first 10 years of life. I heard that stuff 3-4 times a week not to mention our family "Bible study" we had at home. The mental grief was terrible and my parents were completely oblivious to mine and my sisters' pain. I tended to be a "serious" child and I still am. Our childhoods were robbed.
Anyone that is still taking or allowing their kids to go to a Kingdom Hall, WAKE UP! You are spiritually, emotionally and mentally abusing your children. I know. I was one of those children.

There is no joy among Jehovah's Witnesses. It's not allowed. I think that may be one of the most harmful things about being raised as a JW.

Born in. I am NOT one of those lucky people that can come to a firm and swift understanding of things that have happened in my life. I also could not sum up my feelings about JWs in one word.
Anger
Confusion
No fond memories at all after the age of 10. We moved to another city. Also, the JWs were making many changes about that time, clamping down on their members and starting the preparation for the big buildup to 1975.
Bitterness
Pity for extended family that are still in. Pity for my deceased parents that were probably trapped in the cult.
Hatred of the coercion and fear tactics used on my parents.
This forum has helped me a lot to heal from these feelings. I am much better than I was 2 years ago.
